Hughes, Raymond Clifford  "Bo", 88, New Florence, passed away unexpectedly August 4, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center - Johnstown. Born May 1, 1931 in Mines, Pa. Son of Howard Leighton and Lucinda (Zimmerman) Hughes. Preceded in death by daughter Lydia Gorman, brothers William, Melvin, and John Hughes; sisters Lola Hughes, Minnie Grannas, and Bessie Treese. Survived by loving wife of 61 years the former Helen Gardner. Loving daughter Lynne married to Richard Troyan - Seward, son in law Ronald Gorman and brother Ralph Hughes. Bo was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, having been awarded the Purple Heart. Lifetime member of VFW Post 7622 New Florence. Retired with 23 years service as a welder at Penelec. Member of New Florence United Methodist Church. Friends received 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Thursday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home Seward. Funeral service 11 am Friday at Meese Funeral Home, Rev. Sharon Hamley officiating. Private Interment Royer Cemetery . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fairfield Vol. Fire Co.

Uncle Bo helped Dad (John) and me build my house. He showed me how to make sauerkraut, and it was always really good. When I was a young Boilermaker, I would always go to him to get advise for passing a welding test. He was a very good Welder. He will be missed.

You have my sympathy and in my prayers. He was a wonderful husband, father and Uncle. He is in peace now free from all pain. Will be greatly missed.

What a man - private but so loving in caring for Aunt Helen; in loving Lydia and Lynne (Cotton) -and his family and friends. Rest In Peace - we will miss you, but will never forget what we learned from you and how you lived you life. A true Soldier ❣️ Salute ❣️ Love, Janet & Bob
