MARTIN – Alan Reigh “Sam,” 75, Seward, passed away May 30, 2014, at home. Born May 23, 1939, in New Florence, son of Reigh and Ruth (St. Clair) Martin. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Joan Martin; and brother, Glenn Martin. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Kathryn; children, Linda, married to Tim LaMantia, Seward; Brenda, married to Rick Gdula, Dunlo; Todd, married to former Sherry Spisak, Seward; and Brad Martin, Frederick, Md.; grandchildren, Erica and Emily LaMantia; Lorin, Colin, Justin Gdula; Zachary and Abby Martin; and Jack and Ethan Martin; sisters, Barbara Keeler, New Florence; Ollie West, New Florence; and Louise, married to Ron Birkhimer, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Raymond Hedges; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sam was a member of Seward United Methodist Church. He retired with 33 years of service as a boilermaker. Lifetime member, past president and chief of Seward Volunteer Fire Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of New Florence American Legion, Masonic Cambria Lodge and the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona. He was an avid Steelers and Pitt fan. Sam lived his life through his kids and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Seward United Methodist Church, the Rev. Scott Hamley, officiating.
