Betty Jean Meese

Meese, Betty Jean, 94, Richland. Passed away May 17, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center. Born September 5, 1924 in Johnstown. Daughter of Frank and Minnie (Rager) Patch. Preceded in death by parents, husband, David J. Meese, sister Marion Wessel, and brother-in-law Charles Wessel. Survived by daughter Karen Leigh married to Rev. Donald Krestar, Somerset; son Jon A. Meese married to the former Theresa "Terrie" Schultz, Seward ; nephew Rick Wessel married to the former Nancy Sutton, Johnstown; niece Christine married to Lance Slagle, Beaver; adopted daughter Sharon married to Dr. Harold Ashcraft, Richland; numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church serving in Naomi Circle, United Methodist Women and Church Women United. Volunteered for over 30 years at Arbutus Manor. Betty was known for her numerous inspirational Christian programs. Her favorite was her Teapot Program that led to her collection of over a thousand teapots. She was known as the Teapot Lady by many people. Betty worked in her younger years at the Penn Traffic candy department and as a bookkeeper at The American Stores. She loved holidays and enjoyed special settings on the table to match the season. She was an excellent baker and fudge maker. Betty was a wonderful mother and person. She always made everyone feel special. She will be forever missed. Friends will be received from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm Wednesday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward where funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, the Rev. Matt Williams officiating. Entombment Richland Cemetery Mausoleum.
