Donald L. Hess, Sr.

Hess, Donald L. Sr, 71, of Seward, passed away Saturday,  October 21, 2023 in Johnstown.  Born January 18, 1952 in Johnstown, he was the son of Raymond and Almeda (Blansett) Hess.  Preceded in death by parents, loving wife of 41 years, Hallie J Hess, and grandson Benton Hess.  Don is survived by sons, Donald L. Hess Jr., married to the former Maya Rodd of Johnstown and Michael R. Hess, married to the former Karie Tritt of Elwood City; grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor, Toby, Tori, Brady, Keelibeth, Bryce, and Kenzie; brother Rodney Hess, half-brother Ron Burkett, and half-sister Cindy Shepler.  Don retired with 30 years’ service with Penelec at the Seward and Conemaugh Plant.  He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who liked doing yardwork and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He loved his beagle, Gracie.  Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward.  Funeral services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Squirrel Hill Hunt Club Lifetime Hunts, 113 24Th St. New Florence Pa 15944. Jon A.
