Sievers, Edward R., 79, Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Dilltown, died March 19, 2008, at home. Born Nov. 28, 1928, in Johnstown. Preceded in death by parents and stepbrothers, Eugene and William Smith. Survived by loving wife, Irene E. , Virginia Beach; and these children: Edward Earl, married to former Nancy Lichtenfels, Virginia Beach; Evelyn, married to James Griffith, Home, Pa.; Margaret Gretchen, married to Joseph Scislowicz, Franklin, Va.; Donald J., married to former Rhonda Boyer, Phoenix Ariz.; Richard L., married to former Brenda Buchanan, Elizabethtown, Pa.; Elaine, married to Carl Comer, Chesapeake, Va.; and Eugene P., married to former Cory Plants, Chesapeake; 17 grandchildren;seven great-grandchildren; brother William R. Sievers, Johnstown; and sisters, Dolores Hicks and Mary A. Vizzini, both of Johnstown. Former member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward. Active member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Virginia Beach. Death breaks marriage union of 59 years. Retired supervisor at Fisher Scientific. Volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward, where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Bede Mulligan officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery.
