GLESSNER George W., 79, Seward, died Oct. 2, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 21, 1931, in Seward, son of George M. and Agnes (Watson) Glessner. Preceded in death by parents; brother, William; and sister, Lila. Survived by loving wife, Heidi; loving children, Ursula, married to Clyde Conti, Slippery Rock; David, married to the former Mary Ann Moure, LaPlata, Md.; Wayne, married to the former Donna Stahl, New Florence; Barbara, married to Daniel Burda Sr., Homer City; Terry, married to the former Carrie Mae Mack, Vintondale; and Jennifer Shearer, Spotsylvania, Va.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Glessner, Wixom, Mich.; and sisters, Helen Luther, Ligonier; Kathryn Sbardella, Homer City; Maxine Powell, Florida; and Jacqueline Benamatti, Texas. Death breaks marriage union of 57 years. He attended Seward United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War era. Retired in 1985 from Bethlehem Steel's information services department, systems development division, with the position of project manager. He served two terms on borough council and almost five terms as mayor of Seward. George was active in the Seward Area Recreation Committee. Original member of Seward-St. Clair Township Sanitary Authority and was involved in the development and installation of the Seward Area Sanitary Sewage System. At George's request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral service will be held for friends and family at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward, the Rev. Duk Hee Han, officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Seward United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 426, Seward, Pa. 15954, or to a charity of your choice.
