Howard E. Edmiston

EDMISTON – Howard E. Sr. “Butts,” 76, Gas Center, passed away Aug. 6, 2013, at home. Born Dec. 2, 1936, in Gas Center, son of Lloyd and Grace (Sherman) Edmiston. Preceded in death by parents; son, Howard E. Edmiston Jr.; and brothers, Ralph and Harold. Survived by loving children, Debbie, married to Dale Malloy, Seward; Mary, married to Neal Cramer, Brush Valley; and William, married to the former Cindy Walters, Bolivar; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; also sisters, Betty, married to Herb Bracken, Gas Center; and Joan, married to Robert Marshall, Yellow Creek. Member of Blacklick United Methodist Church. Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired with 38 years of service from Bethlehem Steel Corp. He loved to spend time at his cottage with his family. His great-grandson, Dominick, called him “Pappy River.” Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Thomas Phillips, officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery.
