ANDERSON Irene Catherine, 97, Seward, died April 24, 2010, at Bethlen Nursing Home, Ligonier. Born July 14, 1912, in Fairfield Township, daughter of the Rev. Alfred and Tina Elizabeth (Keller) Roddy. Preceded in death by parents; husband, David Elmer Anderson, who died in 1975; foster son, Merle Anderson, killed in action in World War II Germany; brothers, Albert, Walter, Harry and Wilbert Roddy; sisters, Jennie Clark and Jessie Fritz; and special nephew, Albert Colson Jr. Survived by special niece, Carole Colson and family, Seward; sister, Grace Clark Shirra, Seward; grandchildren: Tina, Tammy, Tracey, David, and Tricia and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Seward United Methodist Church. Retired personal care nurse, camp cook and homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fort Ligonier Post 734, VFW, for over 60 years, and president of the auxiliary in 1951 and also auxiliary secretary. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Seward United Methodist Church, the Rev. Duk Hee Han officiating. Interment, Menoher Memorial Cemetery, Waterford.
