Bowden, James E., 80, of Seward, died March 9, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Jan. 22, 1928, in Johnstown, son of William E. and Anna (Bovesky) Bowden. Preceded in death by parents; son, James E. Jr, who died in 1995; brothers, William and Raymond Bowden; half brothers, Steve, Albert, Joe, Francis and Robert Oswald; half sister, Anna Antal; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Bowden. Survived by loving wife, Betty, of Seward; children, Scott, married to the former Liz Green, Williamstown, Ky.; Elizabeth Locher, Johnstown; Tom, New Philadelphia, Ohio; and Esther Bowden, at home; grandchildren, Hope Horne, Krista and Chris Bowden, Dwight Locher Jr. and Adam Bailey; great-grandchildren, Amiya and Elizabeth Horne and Evan and Ashlyn Locher. Member of Seward United Methodist Church. Death breaks marriage union of 53 years. U.S. Navy vetern of World War II and the Korean War. Retired from Penelec with 25 years service as an electrician. Member of Seward VFW Post 7022, Seward Volunteer Fire Company and the Bolivar American Legion. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Seward United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ronald Emery. Private interment, Armagh Cemetery.
