KORLEWITZ – John Jr. “Pap,” 93, Seward, passed away peacefully April 11, 2015, at Indiana Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Johnstown on March 12, 1922. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Evans); brothers, Mike Korlewitz and Harry Korlewitz; and son-in-law, David Quinn. Survived by sister, Mary Miller, Johnstown; son, Larry D. Korlewitz, Armagh, married to Charlotte (Manda); and daughter, Gloria Quinn, Flowery Branch, Ga., married to the late David Quinn. Also survived by four grandchildren, Amy Cook, David Korlewitz, Carylle Quinn and Leonard and Marissa Mancilla, and eight great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Johnstown High School, where he played football. John then proudly served as an Army sergeant during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Pap then worked for Pennsylvania Electric Co., where he retired after many years of loyal service. He also was a member of Armagh Volunteer Fire Department, where he enjoyed selling tickets and Friday night bingo. His biggest joy was his family. He married Betty Evans on Dec. 10, 1944, and was a devoted husband for 50 years. He enjoyed visiting loved ones in Georgia and Florida, and he loved all his great-grandchildren dearly. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Ray Streets Jr., officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery. Military honors in charge of Conemaugh Valley Marine Detachment.
