John Rensko

RENSKO – John, 96, Seward, passed away June 17, 2015, at McCachren Personal Care Home. Born March 10, 1919, in Lockport, Pa., son of Peter and Mary (Kraynak) Rensko. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Mary, who passed away in 2008; great-granddaughter, Nadia; brothers, Charles and Michael “Blackie” Rensko; and sisters, Anna Russo and Susan Shetler. Survived by loving children, Barbara, married to William Grant, Sterling, Va.; Carol Mitchell, Alexandria, Va.; Judy Henderson, and fiance, Don Marino, Seward; and Rick Rensko, married to the former Debbie Shetler, Seward; loving grandchildren, Monica Mitchell, Tim Grant (Wendy), Dan Grant (Lora), Renee Restivo (Joe), Zachary Rensko (Megan) and Nichole Rensko; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margaret Jasitt, York; and Helen Rensko, New Jersey. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, and retired from Florence Mining Co. He served as captain of the First Aid Team for the miners. John was a hard worker and loved nature. He had a passion for gardening. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed amusing people. John was a gentle, kind and caring person. Family was very important to him. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, the Rev. Robert Washko, officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Diana McCachren and Cindy Rager for John’s special and loving care for eight years.
