Catanese, Joseph W., 91, of Seward, passed away February 9, 2020 at the Atrium in Johnstown. Born April 22, 1928 in Seward, Pa. Son of Antonio and Katarina (Guaetta) Catanese. Preceded in death by parents, wife Miriam who died in 2006, brothers Anthony, Domenick, and Phillip Catanese , also great grandson Jonathan Brison. Survived by loving sons Joseph W. Catanese Jr. married to the former Jackie Brison - Indiana, Pa. , Barry G. Catanese - Florida, and loving daughter Susan married to Daniel Rohal - Johnstown. Grandchildren Trevor Catanese, Jillian Siedell, Brooke Shedlock, Adam Catanese, Christopher Wharton, Alex Rohal, Chris Blystone, Shawn Blystone, David Brison, and Matthew Brison. Also 24 great grandchildren. brothers John Catanese - Seward and Santo Catanese married to Connie - Seward. Joe was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church - Seward and the Holy Name Society. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, Seward Chapter 11381 and All Saints Association 954 Johnstown. Johnstown High School graduate of 1946. Joe was past president of Carpenters Union - Johnstown local # 1419 and Seward VFW Post # 7022. He was a lifetime member of the Seward Volunteer Fire Co. serving as secretary for over 40 years. Also the Westmoreland County Fire Chief's, Fireman's and Mohawk"s Associations. Member of Sandybottom's Sportsman's Club, Conemaugh Valley Beagle Club, Coral - Graceton Sportsman's Club, and life member of Dilltown Sportsman's Club. Joe was retired from Berkebile Bros. Contracting. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home -Seward. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church - Seward. Father Robert Washko officiating. Interment Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Sandybottoms Sportsman's Club or Seward Volunteer Fire Co.
