LEWIS Laura Ruth, 87, Seward, died March 23, 2011, at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana. Born Nov. 28, 1923, in Punxsutawney, Pa., daughter of Sherman Walter and Marjorie Alice (King) Cook. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles William Lewis Sr., who died in 1997; son, Robert Paul, who died in 2007; brother, Walter Paul Cook; and stepsisters, Lucille and Joyce. Survived by loving children, Charles William Jr., married to Diane, North Carolina; Patrice Kay, married to Joseph Rowe, Brush Valley; and Susan Jane, married to Thomas Schoos, Monroeville; grandchildren, Chuck, Danielle and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Michael and Ayden; and brother, Roger Davis, DuBois. Member of Armagh United Methodist Church, having served on many church committees; Cub Scout den leader coach Pack 22; veteran of World War II, having served with the Naval Waves; Franklin Street United Methodist Food Pantry volunteer for 15 years; Indiana County Care Net volunteer; and foster parent for more than 30 years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Armagh United Methodist Church, the Rev. John Hodge, officiating. Military service will be conducted by Indiana VFW Post 1989.
