LEWIS – Leroy, 89, Seward, passed away March 17, 2014, at home. Born Jan. 11, 1925, in Revloc, son of Thomas and Isabelle (Allen) Lewis. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Thomas Lewis, Richard Allen Lewis and William R. Lewis; sisters, Dorothy Hesket and Mary Wolford; and nephew, William Lewis Jr., killed in the Vietnam War. Survived by nieces and nephews, Ty, Tom, Bill and Lynn Wolford; Elaine Miller; and Lois Ann “Penny” Williams. Leroy was a U.S. Army veteran with 20 years of service, where he obtained the rank of master sergeant. He served in World War II in Africa, Italy, France, Germany and Korea. He was a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart. Member of American Legion, VFW Thomas Lewis Post 7022, Society of Third Infantry Division U.S. Army, American Prisoners of War, Combat Infantrymen’s Association and Noncommissioned Officers Association. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Meese Funeral Home, Seward, the Rev. Norris Mason, officiating. Interment will be held Monday, March 24, at National Veteran’s Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa. Local military service in charge of Conemaugh Valley Marines Detachment Unit.
