CARNEY Marlene C., 71, Seward, died May 5, 2011, at home. Born April 20, 1940, in Seward, daughter of Archie John and Madeline (Mardis) Fry. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Walter Fry. Survived by loving husband, Dick; devoted daughters, Debra Carney, Arlington, Va.; and Kelli, married to Michael Culclasure, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Amber Rudnik, Seward; and Kaydee Culclasure, Myrtle Beach; brothers, David Fry, married to Barb, Johnstown; Raymond Fry, married to Shahla, Oakland, Calif.; and Jack Mateer, married to Helen, North Vernon, Ind.; sisters, Rhoda, married to Phil Magistro, Largo, Fla.; Emily Joan, married to Ron Wadsworth, Pinedale, Wyo.; Sandra, married to Kenneth Richey, Johnstown; and Sheri, married to Jeffrey Kohrman, Decatur, Ind.; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Marlene and Dick were married April 29, 1961, in Connellsville, Pa. They resided in Seward during their 50 years of marriage. Marlene was a member of Seward United Methodist Church. Prior to their marriage, Marlene worked at A&P Market in Morrellville. After she married Dick, she worked at the Seward post office and H&R Block as a tax preparer. She bowled in various leagues at Billows Lanes, was the 1977 president of Seward Elementary PTA, and also was an active Girl Scout leader. Marlene was very proud of her meticulously kept home. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward, where funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, the Rev. Duk Hee Han and the Rev. Ruth Moore, officiating. The anniversary to be held May 14 will now be held as a celebration of life and love dinner directly following the funeral on May 9 at Armagh Fire Hall.
