Obituary

Marlene Kane, 70, of Emporium, Pa. passed away December 16, 2021 at Conemaugh Hospital-Johnstown. Born May 14, 1951 in Emporium, Pa. Daughter of Joseph and Philomena (Gentile) Grovanz. Preceded in death by her parents. Survived by her children-Casey (Nathan) Buchkoski, Zachary Kane, Courtney (Douglas) Jamison and Billy Kane. Grandchildren- Andrew, Sophia, Ruth Anne, Elizabeth, Evan, Layla and Josie. Brother-Carl (Linda) Grovanz. Sister-Gloria (Paul) Kengor. Nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Garden Club, Women of the Moose and Democratic Women’s Society. She never forgot a birthday and loved to send cards to extended family and friends. She loved Pittsburgh sports and was passionate about cheering for all Black and Gold but football was her favorite and she never missed a Steelers game. She inherited a love for gardening and flowers from her father and it wasn’t uncommon to find them gardening together and talking about the beautiful flowers that surrounded the house. She was an avid bingo player and master at crafting, especially for her children’s school parties. Above all, she loved her family and this strong love of family will live on as her greatest legacy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at the St. Mark’s Church in Emporium, Pa.  at 11 am on Wednesday Dec. 22. Doors will open at 10:30.  Jon A. Meese Funeral Home - Seward is honored to serve the family.
