Currie- Rae Ruddell, 87 of Seward, passed away at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Born November 7, 1936 to the late Clair W. and Mildred I. (Hepner) Dishong. Also preceded in death by husband, Donald Ray Currie; father and mother-in-law, Donald and ora (Whited)Currie,brothers and sister-in-law, Wayne David 'Bud"; Patricia and Husband, Robert Shaw; Jerry; and Jon Winters. Survived by daughters, Linda Raye, married to David J. Edwards, Seward, Lisa Rae, married to Shawn E. Kurtz, Vinco; and Lori Rae, married to John, WV, grandchildren, Melisa Lynn, married to Lee T. Barbus, Bolivar; Haley Raey Kurtz and fiance , John Hajduk, MD; Nathan David Edwards married to Cassie Long, MI; great-grandchildren, Owen C; Ashton J.; Arabella G.; Payton M,; Katie Rae; Ember R., MI; sister Claire Arlene Winters - Charles; brother -in-law, Thomas Currie and wife, Debra Charles; sisters-in-laws, Arlene (Krebes) Currie, OH; Barbara (Ochenrider) Currie -Cramer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduated 1955 from Johnstown High. Attended Waynesburg University studying music and theology. Employed by various stores in Johnstown, including Insley; Gearharts and Penn Traffic, but mostly was a stay at home wife and mother. She and her husband were both very active in the community. She served on Seward Borough Council, holding positions of Vice- President and President; Seward- St. Clair Sanitary Authority Board of Directors, Armagh - Seward Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and choir director; Laurel Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service serving as station commander for the Seward Unit, running EMT and Treasurer on the Association Board; Life Memer of the Seward Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and BPOE#175 Johnstown Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday Meese Funeral Home Seward, where Funeral Service will be held 11am Saturday. Rev. James Pardee officiating. Interment Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Seward Vol. Fire Co., Armagh - Seward Presbyterian Church, or American Cancer Society.
