BLANKENBICKER Richard K. 'Dick,' 84, Seward, died July 11, 2011, at McCullough House, Johnstown. Born Aug. 21, 1926, in LaJose, Pa., son of Cecil and Hazel (Rainey) Blankenbicker. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Phyllis; and brothers, Jack Rainey and John Edward Blankenbicker. Survived by these loving children: Keith, married to former Rebecca Kunicki, Avon, Conn.; Jayne Ann, married to Walter Kolesa, West Wyoming, Pa.; Donna, married to David Roman, Richland; Lisa, Seward; and Michael, married to the former Cathlene Carlisle, Apollo, Pa.; eight grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; sisters, Louise Waddell, Delmont, and Donna Hollingsworth, Rockville, Md.; and nieces and nephews. Active member of Seward United Methodist Church. Retired from Penelec as systems operation manager with 45 years of service. U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operation. Served on the USS Herbert J. Thomas DD833. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Seward United Methodist Church, the Rev. Scott Hamley, officiating. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
