Richard Callihan Obituary

Callihan, Richard Milton "Rick",  of Armagh passed suddenly yet peacefully at his home on February 21, 2025.  He was born in Johnstown on April 13, 1950.  Rick was preceded in death by his father Richard "Dick" Callihan, his mother Lois J. Callihan, his sister Patricia Rainey, and nephews Todd and Brett Bonitz.  Rick is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Linda (Naworol-Buchkoski) Callihan, his sister Sharon Bonitz (James), his children Heidi Paniaha (Robert), Derrick Callihan (Kelly), Pamela Kauffman (Thomas), Nathan Buchkoski (Casey), and 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Devon, and Raine Morder, Quinn and Molly Callihan, Tommy and Anna Kauffman, Andrew and Sophia Buchkoski, great-granddaughter, Skylarr Morder, niece Amy Bonitz, great-niece Olivia Mock, and special grandpup, Remi.  Rick always enjoyed fishing and being outdoors, but after working at and retiring from Bethlehem Steel and Freight Car America, he took up golfing and enjoyed spending hours on the golf course with his friends and family.  He had a big personality, always quick-witted and making people laugh.  His knowledge of sports was incredible with a remarkable ability to remember dates and athletes since the time he was an athlete in school himself.  He was a proud graduate of the 1968 class of Johnstown High School.  More than anything though, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family.  He loved being with his wife spending quiet days at home or going about town.  He was always in attendance at his children and then grandchildren's sporting and school events, and enjoyed being with them for family dinners and gatherings or just to hang out.    Rick was a long-standing member of the Moxham PNA and also enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Russian Club.  Rick will be sorely missed by all those that had the pleasure of truly knowing him.  If Rick called you a friend, you were very special to him (you all know who you are!).  Funeral arrangements will be private, but a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Memorial donations would be appreciated to the IRMC Auxiliary Scholarship Fund at 835 Hospital Drive, Attn: Administration, Indiana, PA 15701.  The Jon A. Meese Funeral Home - Seward is honored to serve the family.
