Richard Allen Jones

Jones, Richard Allen,   81 of Chapel Hill, North Carolina formerly of Armagh passed away August 26, 2016 in North Carolina. Born June 3, 1935 in Seward, PA. Son of Thomas and Nellie (Sweitzer) Jones. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 58 years Joann, son David Jones-Corso, sister Shirley Gulledge; brothers, Raymond and Robert Jones. Survived by daughter Stephanie married to Rodney Marcum, Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren, Nicole Marcum and Cutter Corso. Brother, William Jones and wife Joan, Waynsboro, PA. Daughter in-law Tina Corso, St. Louis, MO, sister in-law Betty Painter-Jones, Loraine, OH. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward.  Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Retired with 30 years service from United School District.  Richard received the President's Award for volunteer work.  He was known for helping others, and he loved animals.  Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, Seward.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward  Father Robert Washko officiating.  Interment Armagh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer's Assn, ALZ.org.  The family would like to thank Chatham Ridge Assisted Living Center. Your love and support for Dad was immense and we feel blessed to have met you all.  Also thank you to friends and family for the cards that were sent, they brightened Dad's day.
