Salvatore Bucceri Obituary

BUCCERI - Salvatore, 98, Seward, died July 5, 2010, at home. Born July 17, 1911, in Solarino, Sicily, son of Giuseppi and Rosa (Signorino) Bucceri. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Rosa, who died in 1997; brothers, Joseph, Frank and Paul Bucceri; and sisters, Coradina Bucceri and Mary Barbagallo. Survived by loving children, Joseph, married to the former Myra Fleeger, Reedsville, Pa.; RoseLena Simmons, Kinston, N.C.; Coradina Jones, Robinson; and the Rev. Arthur, married to the former Marlene Barelich, Seward; grandchildren, Joseph, David, Michael, Brian and Jason Bucceri; and Shann and Derek Jones; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Dawnelle, Dustin, Michael S., Corina, Michael, Maria, Jacob, Philip and Isaac Bucceri; and Devin and Kendra Jones; and sister, Bernice Uhlig, Philadelphia. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Sons of Italy and Seward Volunteer Fire Company for more than 71 years. Retired railroader, from 1929 to 1976, having worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railroad. He started barbering when he was six years old in Sicily and practiced up until 1982. A heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped care for Salvatore during the past 3 1/2 years. Friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, Father Robert Washko, officiating. Interment, Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery.
