Catanese, Santo J., 89, Seward, passed away October 14, 2022 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 31, 1933 in Johnstown. Son of Antonio and Caterina (Guaetta) Catanese. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Philip, Anthony, Domenick, Joseph, and John Catanese. Survived by loving wife of over 61 years, the former Constance (Nyland). Loving sons Vincent M. Catanese - Westfield, Indiana, and Michael A. Catanese married to the former Elaine Hansalik - Lewistown, Pa. Daughter Dawn married to Roy Hockey - Johnstown. 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Santo was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church - Seward. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. with 26 years service. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the 101st Airborne Division and 7th Infantry Division. He received 6 decorations for his service. Santo was a lifetime member of the Seward and New Florence VFW, and member of the Johnstown American Legion. He was past president of the "Old Timers" golf league and a Democratic committeeman. Friends will be received 2:30 - 4:30 pm and 6 - 8 pm Tuesday at the Jon A. Meese Funeral Home - Seward. Funeral service will be held at Meese Funeral Home 11 am Wednesday. Father Willie Lechnar officiating. Private interment Armagh Cemetery. Military rites by Conemaugh Valley Detachment # 287 Marine Corps League
