William Andrew Surike

Surike, William Andrew, 66, New Florence, died Dec. 31, 2008, at home with his family. Born June 23, 1942, in Johnstown, son of Andrew "China" and Elizabeth (Wascak) Surike. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by loving wife, Danielle, and these sons: Mark, married to former Heather Smith, New Florence; William Daniel, married to former Toni Hoover, Stafford, Va.; Michael, New Florence; and Chris, married to former Laura Rollyson, Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren: Kylee, Charlie and Ian Surike; sister, Gloria Allison, Armagh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward. Death breaks marriage union of 40 years. Member of VFW Thomas Lewis Post 7022, Seward. Worked as a certified welder with Penelec and Edison Mission Energy. Served in U.S. Navy in England and Ireland. Enjoyed bowling and golfing with his sons. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Jon A. Meese Funeral Home, 1201 Fifth St., Seward. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, Father Robert M. Washko officiating. Interment, Armagh Cemetery.
